Most Common Places For A Man To Have A Tattoo
Yesterday, I covered where the most common places were for a woman to get a tattoo. Today, I’m going to be focusing on the most common place for a man to get a tattoo and the subconscious reason why they get them. The most common place you will find a tattoo on a man is their arms, backs and legs. Of course it seems that more men are getting a little more braver and are getting tattoos on their chests, stomachs, knuckles and hands. These places are a lot more painful than the common spots, which is probably why more men are deciding to get tattooed there. Whether, a man wants to admit it or not, one of the subconscious reasons why a man gets a tattoo is because they think it helps re-enforce their masculinity.
After all hundreds of years ago various tribes all over the world, required the men in their tribe to have some sort of male body art. If a man wasn’t painted, pierced, or tattooed, they were not considered men, but instead, they were viewed as boys. So by knowing this, it kind of puts things in perspective to why so many men think tattoos make them seem more of a man than some man that may not have a tattoo. By knowing this information we know that body art has been linked to masculinity over the years.

Most Common Places For A Woman To Have A Tattoo
I think it if pretty safe to say that most people probably know that the most common place for a women to get a tattoo is on her lower back or somewhere else on her back. It seems that women also like the ankle and any other place on their body that is easily concealed with clothing. Whether you fit this bill or not, research has found out that women tend to get tattoos on the lower back and other places that are normally covered up because they think it will help boost the erotic side of themselves.
I will admit that is not why I decided to get my tattoos on my back. Yes, I think the tattoo I have on my lower back is sexy, but that’s not why I got it there. The number one reason both of my tats are on my back is because if I every get tired of them I won’t have to look at them. I mean let’s be honest when you have a tattoo on your back, when is the only time you see it? When you look in the mirror. If I didn’t look in the mirror a lot I would probably never see my tattoos. Some people may think that is defeating the purpose of having a tattoo but being able to see the tattoo isn’t the only reason to have one. It can mark a special time in your life or help remind you about something every time you glance at it.

Are Tattoos Sexy
This is something that I ponder about quiet frequently. I for one think the tattoos that I have are very tastefully done. I also feel that the tattoo that I have on my lower back is very sexy. But my husband doesn’t really care for them. He doesn’t hate the ones I have or think I’m trashy by all means, he just doesn’t care for them. Now me on the other hand, I find it very attracting when a man is covered in tattoos. I honestly do not know what it is but I find them very sexy and attractive on men. Heck, even some women with tattoos looks sexy, IE Angelina Jolie.
So this got me to thinking, what do people think about this. Are they sexy or not? Well come to find out a survey was done and it revealed that at least a third of Americans with one or more tattoo(s) say they make them feel more sexy. To break that down even further 34% of Americans think having a tattoo is sexy. Surprisingly, enough 42% of females feel having tattoos makes them feel sexier and only 25% of men feel this way.
One the flip side of things people that do not have tattoos were asked the same question and their answers were quit different. 42% of Americans who are tattoo-less think tattooed people are less attractive and 36% non-tattooed people think tattoos make someone less sexy.
So according to this survey that was conducted in July of 2003, more people think tattoos are less sexy than people who think they are sexy. Which leaves me wanting to hear from the tattoo community and the non tattooed people out there. Do you think tattoos are sexy?

Can’t Have Just One
I will be honest I’m probably the last person you would every think would have tattoos. So when people learn that I have tattoos they always ask me questions. Well one that I get a lot besides the ole “Did it hurt” question is, “Is it true that getting tattoos is addictive?” And my answer is always “Yes, they are additive”. Of course it’s not like a traditional addition to nicotine or some sort of other drug. It’s more like a lot of people just get hooked on the excitement and adrenalin of getting a tattoo. It is also pretty safe to say that there is a high chance of a person who already has one tattoo will get another.
With that being said you probably want to know how many tats I have. The answer to that is two. And it would have been a lot more if I didn’t have a lot more self control. I don’t know how many times I would walk into my tattoo parlor to get another tattoo and walked out before I got it done. Also you probably want to know if I plan on getting any more tattoos. The answer to that is, I would love to get another one but my husband isn’t too fond of the ones I have. So I’m not going to get any more out of respect to him. Now if he changes his mind I will be headed straight for my tattoo parlor to get another one.
So beware first time tattoo seekers you may very well be walking into your local tattoo parlor soon after the ink settles on your first tattoo to get another. I hope this little bit of information helps you non tattoo people understand why some people are actually covered in tattoos.

So You Want A Tattoo
So you have made the decision to get a tattoo, that is great, but there are a couple things you need to think about before you set off and get inked. The biggest decision you need to make is what kind of tattoo you are going to get. Did you know that nearly 35% of people regret their first tattoo? Well I hate to say that I fall into that category. I don’t necessarily regret my first tattoo, but I don’t exactly like it anymore. So you need to be 110% sure you will be okay having this tattoo on your body for the rest of your life. Secondly, if this will be your first tattoo try not to go over board with it, ie don’t get something extremely huge that covers a large area of your body.
The second decision you need to make is where to get the tattoo on your body. Of course the places are literally endless. If you don’t handle pain very well be for warned that it does hurt, it’s no completely painless. If you are concerned about the pain, then consider getting a tattoo on your shoulder blade, the one I go there hardly hurt at all. Also for you guys out there, I hear that the top of your arm doesn’t hurt either, I personally can’t vouch for that because I don’t have on there. But women please listen up to this, especially you teenage girls out there. You may want to triple think getting a tattoo on your stomach or pelvic area because if you decided to have children one day that little butterfly you have down there may turn into some hideous stretched out ugly mess.
If you are having trouble finding the perfect somthing to have inked on your body. You can always sit down with a tattoo artist and have them draw you up one or you can check out Infinte Tattoos and look through the hundreds of tattoo designs that are featured on the site.

Best And Worst Places To Get A Tattoo
The question that I get most often from people who do not have tattoo’s is, “Does it hurt?” and the answer to that question is, “Yes.” Then their follow up question will be, “What does it fee like?” Of course the answer will probably differ from person to person but the best way I can describe it is, it feels like you are getting stung by hundreds of bees at the same time.
So if you are interested in getting a tattoo, please know that getting a tattoo on your body is going to hurt, but there are definitely more and less painful places on your body you could get on. So this leads me to inform you on the most and least painful places on your body to get a tattoo. Please keep in mind every person differs from pain levels, this is just a general consensus.
Most Painful
1. The ankles or top of your feet
2. Eyebrows
3. Chest or rib cage
4. Your private areas
5. The elbow
6. Eyelids
7. Knuckles
8. Spine
Least Painful
1. Shoulder
2. Thigh
3. Butt
4. Upper Arm
If I didn’t list a particular part of your body you are interested in knowing about, just keep this in mind. The more boney and less fatty an area on your body is the more painful that tattoo is going to be, due to the fact that there is nothing there to help take the pain expect for your nerves and skin.

The History Of Tattoos
It is safe to say that nearly 50% of people from the age of 18 to 35 have at least one tattoo. So one might think were did tattoos come from and how long have they been around. The word tattoo comes from the Polynesian word, ‘tatao’, which means to tap or to mark someone. It has been reported that tattoos have been around for nearly 5,000 years. Archaeologist have found that tattoos can be traced to such countries as Egypt, Roman, Greek and Japanese regions. Of course tattoos have not always been used for personal body art like most people use them as today.
Tattoos over the years have been used for several reasons, such as, symbols of rights, symbols of rank and seniority or being juniors, symbols of spirituality, devotion, religion, rewards and awards for bravery, amulets, talismans and security. Oddly enough tattoos were also used as a form a punishment, they were also used to mark someone as an outcast, as well as marking slaves and people who have been convicted of a crime.
There are still very few religions out there that require their followers to have a certain tattoo indicating that they are part of this particular religion and what their status maybe. This is still a common practice that is used today by gang members.
The very first electronic tattoo machine was invented in 1890, by American tattoo artist named Samuel O’Reilly. This is when the new era of tattoo started when people got tattoos on different parts of their body not signifying any association to a particular group. However, tattoos were still looked upon as non sense and they were only suitable for drunkards, sailors and sometimes, criminals.
Ironically, in today’s time tattoos are not looked down upon and are actually accepted and considered the hip cool thing to have. They are now considered as a fashion symbol and not a simple mark.
