Tattoos And Pregnancy Part 2
Alright I know I covered this yesterday but since I am on the topic of tattoos and pregnancy I thought this would be as good of time as any to talk more about tattoos on the stomach. I mean we all know what happens to your stomach when you get pregnant. It stretches and gets really big, so naturally your tattoo is going to stretch and get bigger as well. The one question I want to know is….will your tattoo go back down to regular size after you have had the baby and lost all the baby weight?
I have researched his topic and have found that it really depends on the person. It seems that different women have different results when it comes to their stomach tattoos. For instance, some say that after they have lost their baby weight the tattoo goes back to normal. While others say their tattoo faded a bit and stretched out a little. So I guess it really depends on how much weight you gain and how much your stomach stretches. But to be on the safe side when you are younger just try to refrain from getting a tattoo on your stomach or in any area that maybe affected if you become pregnant. However, if you find youself having a brain fart when getting a tattoo and get one on your stomach anyways, I have heard that some mothers keep their stomaches very moisturized and that seems to help with the stretching of the tattoo.

Tattoos and Pregnancy
Alright the reason I bring this up is because my husband and I are toying around with the idea of trying to have a baby in a year or so. So that got me thinking, are there any risks or anything else I should know about regarding tattoos and pregnancy.
First and foremost I have found out that if for some ridiculous reason you want to get a new tattoo while you are pregnant you will more than likely have a hard time finding a tattoo artist that will actually do it. There isn’t really any rules or laws pertaining to pregnant women getting a tattoo but most artist feel it isn’t worth the risk and that you should wait until after the baby is born to get your tattoo.
Also another interesting thing I found out is that there is some kind of myth going around that if you have a back tattoo that you can not get an epidural. There have only been a few studies conducted on this matter and of those studies nothing conclusively found any data that shows that there are risks, so most anesthesiologists have no problem giving an epidural to a woman with a back tattoo. But just in case you are worried about this you should contact your local hospital or doctor and see what they say. I know someone you has a tattoo on her lower back and she had an epidural without any problems so I don’t really see what the fuss is about.

Celebrity Tattoos: Joaquin Phoenix
I can’t believe it is already Wednesday. So you know what that means……celebrity tattoo time. I decided to go with the very talented Joaquin Phoenix. The reason being because he only hasone tattoo that I feel certain that most people do not even know that he has a tattoo. Also Joaquin has announced that he is leaving the acting world behind and is planning on devoting all of his time to his music career. So maybe that will inspire him to get some more ink.
Anyways Joaquin has one very simple yet kind of odd tattoo under his right bicep. It is a badly drawn circle. Joaquin was on vacation in Italy and decided to go ahead and get a tattoo because he had always wanted one, but unfortunately things didn’t go quit as he planned.
“I was in Florence and we had just been to the fashion week in Milan. Everybody had these Gaelic symbols that were about wisdom, things like that.”
“I’d always dreamed about getting a tattoo but I didn’t want it to be a fashionable symbol. So I said, ‘Let’s get a ‘nothing’ tattoo.’ That’s why I have this badly drawn circle.”
“It hurt like hell and there was also a problem with the language barrier.”
So learn a lesson from Joaquin if you are in a foreign country and you want to get some fresh ink besure that you have a detailed pictured of what you want down just in case there is a language barrier.

There Is A New Record For Tattooing
A tattoo artist in Tyler Texas decided to try and attempt to beat the Guinness World Records of giving the most tattoos in one day. Derek Kastning, who is a tattoo artist at Rat-a-Tac-Tat Tattoos started to attempt his goal of breaking the tattooing record at 1 P.M. on October 25. His only concern about beating the world record was that he would run out of people to tattoo during the 24 hour time frame. Surprisingly, he did not have this problem as hundreds of people waited in line outside the building to be part of this great tattooing event. When midnight rolled around they realized they had already beaten the record but wanted to keep going. So at 1 P.M on October 26, Derek Kastning tattooed his last tattoo making the new tattooing world record of 726 tattoos in a 24 hour period.
I think this is so cool and how awesome it is for those people who were able to get tattooed during that 24 hour time frame. Although I bet that guys arms, hands, neck and every other muscle in his body ached when he was done at the end of the day. Anyways I just thought this was pretty neat and wanted to share this with all of my fellow tattoo lovers out there. I wonder if this guy gave some sort of discount or something for the people who helped him achieve this awesome goal? If not, I think he should have, after all he wouldn’t have been able to do it without willing participates to tattoo.

Tattoos In The White House
Before you get all worried I’m not going to talk about politics or the up incoming election, this is not the blog for that. I ran across a quote from Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and thought it was relevant to this tattoo blog. I guess when Pete was a youngster he expressed some kind of interest in becoming the president or involved in politics like some many young children do. Well it seems that Pete’s mother has squashed his dreams of every becoming the president simply because he has too many tattoos. But Pete isn’t too worried about his tattoos he says, “I could never pursue a career in politics. I’ve been involved in far too many scandals.”
But Pete did make a really good point about tattoos being in the White House. Here is what he said.
“Isn’t that an irony, though, now that so many of our generation have tattoos? A tattooed person will end up in office one day, mark my words. Not necessarily at a presidential level, but there will be people with tattoos in the administration.”
I hate to burst Pete’s bubble but I guarantee there is someone on the staff at the White House that indeed has a tattoo and if no one there currently has a tattoo, I’m sure there has been presidents and other personnel there that has a tattoo or two. But I think Pete was more so talking about people being covered in tattoos like him. Either way it just goes to show that tattoos are still looked down upon. Maybe if there was a president in the White House that had tattoos and was open about it the perception of tattoos would change. But who am I kidding? I think there will always be some kind of negativity attached to tattoos.

Tattoos Help Identify Man
I will admit the title of this post is a little misleading, but that’s not really the point. The point of this post is there was a man several counties over from where I live found murdered in the woods with no identification on him. Police have search high and low for any leads to help identify this man. The only thing they had to go with were his three fairly unique tattoos that he has. So this just goes to show that your body art not only expresses you as a person but if can help your family members help find you if you are lost or missing. Sadly I haven’t heard anything else about this case but police are hoping that someone will recognize this mans tattoos and be able to help identify this man.
So parents that have a problem with tattoos maybe you should take this as a lesson learned. If you were to allow your child to get a tattoo or more than one tattoo. And if for some unforsaken reason if they were to go missing you are armed with these identifiable marks on your child’s body to help the authorities to find them. So keep this in the back of your mind when your child approaches you about getting some ink on their body. You honestlynever know, that ink on their body could help you find them one day or help save their life. So all you tattoo haters out there, please keep this in your mind tattoos are not all evil they can actually help a family have closure on an unfortunate event.

People You Never Thought Had Tattoos
I will admit that I personally fall into this category. When someone finds out that I have tattoos they don’t believe it because I don’t seem like the type that would have them. I really don’t know why people don’t except it maybe its because I’m not a wild and crazy person, I don’t drink, smoke and have never done drugs. I guess you could say I’m pretty straight laced. So when someone that knows me finds out about my ink it surprises them. Of course I guess there really isn’t a certain type of person that has tattoos because so many different people on the earth have them and they come from different backgrounds, cultures and races. But when it comes to an individual bases I guess there are some people that don’t seem like the tattoo type.
For instance, I just find out recently that my husband’s old boss has a tattoo. Now this guy is definitely a person you would never think to have a tattoo. He is very strict, by the book, orderly, do it right the first time kind of person. And it came as a surprise to us when we discovered he had a tattoo. And even more interesting is that he is not ashamed to show it off but more so scared of what people will think of him because he has a pretty high up corporate position.
So I guess it just goes to show that any body could have some ink hidden on their body.

Tattoos Looked Upon Differently If You Are Famous
Since I did a celebrity tattoo post yesterday about Pink and she has 25 tattoos that I know of, I thought I would bring this up. Do you think that society looks at rock-stars, athletes, and celebrities differently if they have tattoos than a regular person is looked at. I mean for instance, Pink had 25 tattoos or more and if she wasn’t a singer do you think people would view her as trashy? Or take David Beckham for example nearly half of his body is covered in tattoos but since he is a famous soccer star he isn’t bothered about them. And lastly the gorgeous Angelina Jolie, has several tattoos all over her body, would people view her as trashy if she wasn’t Angelina Jolie?
I hate to admit that I feel like since they are famous and have tons of money that some people give them an free card to get tattoos and not be hounded about it. But we all know if David Beckham or even Tommy Lee wasn’t as famous as they are, they would more than likely be ridiculed about their tattoos and more than likely forced to cover them up. So I think this is just another great example of how people view people with tattoos. If it is ok for your child’s so called role model to be covered in tattoos and not get made fun of than what is the difference of us normal people having tattoos? I personally don’t think there is a difference except for the fact that their job doesn’t look down upon if they have a little or a lot of ink.

Is There A Time And A Place For Tattoos?
The reason I bring this question up is because I was at a funeral over the weekend, my 5th funeral I have been to in a year, but that besides the point. Anyways there was this women there that had a fairly large tattoo on her lower arm, two fairly big tattoos on either side of her neck and one pretty big on her chest by her collar bone. For some unknown reason I felt that maybe she should have covered them up. I don’t really know why I felt this way because I am a tattoo lover and I don’t have a problem with them. But I feel and please understand this is my opinion so don’t write me hate comments. That when you are at a funeral or wedding or some other important function that your tattoo should be covered up is possible. Am I right to feel this way. I mean I know I have the right to feel any way I want, but I want to know if anyone else out there in the tattoo community feels this way too.
Is there really a time and a place that you should show off your tattoos? Or should people just get over the fact that you have them and mind their own business? So please don’t be shy and express to me how you feel about this subject. I would love to know if I’m the only one that feels this way.
