It can be a very hard decision to decide whether or not you want to get a tattoo. After all there are a few things you need to take into consideration before getting some ink on your skin. The number one thing you need to be ok with, is that this tattoo design will be with you for the rest of your life. There are ways of getting rid of it but they are very painful and expensive. Also you need to think out the proper location on your body. Lastly, remember that you are going to get older there is nothing that can be done about that. So will you be ok with having this tattoo or several tattoos when you are in your 80’s?

If you answered yes and have already decided the right location on your body for your tattoo, the next step is finding a good tattoo artist. This can be done a number of ways. One you can talk to friends or someone you may know that has tattoos and ask them questions about their tattoo artist. This method is probably the one most used. A lot of tattoo business is done by word of mouth. However, if you do not know anyone with a tattoo are do not feel comfortable approaching strangers and asking them, you can simply just walk into local tattoo parlors in your area and talk to the tattoo artists and look at their books of their work and decide if they would be a good fit for you.

Reached A Milestone….Get A Tattoo

January 30, 2009 at 10:57 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

COLOMBIA-RELIGION-TATTOO

You honestly do not have to have any reason at all to get a tattoo. To be quite frank most people who have a tattoo get one just because they want one. However, there are a lot of people who think they might need a reason to get a tattoo to help justify the reason to someone else perhaps. Several tattoo owners out there have a tattoo because they have reached an important milestone in their life. Whether it be gradating from high school or college, having a baby, getting married, getting divorced or heck even turning thirty years old. One thing that is certain about getting a tattoo because you have reached a milestone in your life, it will  probably help out the odds that you will not regret it later on in life. This doesn’t apply to everyone but if you get something meaningful that relates to your milestone you should be pretty safe in the regret area.

Just make sure when you are heading to the tattoo parlor to get some ink that it is something that your absolutely want to do and that no one else put you up to it. Also never be scared to talk to a tattoo artist and ask them any questions you may have about tattooing. After all there are never any stupid questions. And never ever get a tattoo for the sake of getting a tattoo. It is pretty much guaranteed that you will end up regretting that tattoo later on in life. Lastly, don’t get a tattoo just to rebel against your parents those tats end up being regretted as well and your parent will have won.

Tattooing Your Dog

January 29, 2009 at 3:51 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , )

tattoodog

One of the worst feelings a dog owner can have is discovering that their dog got let out by accident or heaven forbid was dog napped. There are a few options dog owners have to help ensure that they will be reunited with their lost dog. However, some options are better than others. It is common sense to make sure that your dog has a collar on and that they have an identification tag on it with your name and phone number. Unfortunately, dog collars can fall off or be taken off. Another option dog owners have is to have a microchip installed in there pet. Once again there are problems with this method as well. If the vet or whatever facility the dog is taken to does not have the machine to scan the dog then the chip is useless.

A very unconventional method that can be used to help reunite dogs and owners is tattooing. Yes, this procedure may sound a little cruel but it is a great way to mark your dog in the event you should get separated from them. In case you are wondering, tattooing a dog is done just like it is done for a human. The tattooing itself doesn’t really hurt the dog as much as it does a human because they have more layers of skin, but it is still uncomfortable to them. The dog is more likely to be more afraid of the sound of the tattoo gun rather than the actually tattooing.

The best place to get your dog tattooed is on the inside of their leg or on their stomach. A lot of dog owner’ do get their dogs ears and lips tattooed. But sadly, these can be removed if the dog’s ears are clipped and their lips are clipped. It is also a good idea to keep this area shaved so that if the dog gets separated from you, whomever finds it will be able to see the tattoo clearly. It is a common practice for owners to have their social security number tattooed on the dog but if you are uncomfortable with that you can pick out a series of numbers. Also if you get your dog tattooed you need to be sure to register your pet with The National Dog Registry or Tatoo-A-Pet at 800-TATTOOS.

Celebrity Tattoos: Christina Ricci

January 28, 2009 at 11:09 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

tattoo-christina-ricci

The child star probably is most well known for her role as Wednesday, in the Addam’s Family movies. However, Christina has several tattoos of her own. Christina’s tattoos range from text tattoos, to traditional tattoos, to girly tattoos and so on.

Here’s a list of Christina’s tattoos:

1. A lion on her right shoulder blade. It is suppose to be Aslan from the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Which was one of Christina’s favorite books as a child.

2. A fairy on the inside of her right wrist.

3. Praying hands on her left hip, which used to be a bat.

4. A bouquet of sweetpeas on her lower back.

5. The words “Move or Bleed” on the left side of her ribcage.

6. The name “Jack” on her right thigh for a dead pet.

7. A sparrow on her right breast.

8. A mermaid on her left ankle.

Christina Ricci has confessed her love for tattoos, but knows that being an actress in Hollywood you have to be careful where you get your tattoos. As of right now all her tattoos are in places that can be covered up fairly easily. Because a lot of time producers in movies do not like their actress’s to be covered in tattoos, because it is a pain to have to cover them up with make up if their clothes do not cover them up.  However, Christina is hoping that she will become super famous one day so she can get a tattoo on her arm.

“I can’t wait until I’m super-famous. I’m at the point when I should really hide them, because directors don’t like them. When I’m really, really super famous, I’m going to get one on my arm – because nobody cares then.”

Traditional Tattoos

January 27, 2009 at 3:30 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

pinuptat

It is pretty safe to say that there is literally an endless amount of possibilities when it comes to tattoos. Basically, if you can think it up a tattoo artist and draw it up and tattoo that design on you. However, over the years of tattooing there have been some tattoos that are referred to as traditional tattoos or old school tattoos by tattoo artists. These tattoos are tattoos that were made popular by sailors, servicemen and bikers back in the day. These old school or traditional tattoos are not as popular as they once were, but they are slowing starting to make their way back into the “trendy” tattoo department.

A list of tradtional or old school tattoos are as follows:

1. Cherry tattoos

2. Nautical star tattoos

3. Native American tattoos

4. Naked mermaid tattoos

5. Swallow and sparrow tattoos

6. Pin up girl tattoos

7. Heart tattoos

8. Harley Davidson symbol tattoos

9. Anchor tattoos

10. Eagle tattoos

11. Fish tattoos

12. Dagger tattoos

13. Dagger tattoos

14. Water tattoos

15. The good old MOM tattoo inside a heart tattoo

The traditional tattoos back in the day were almost always in black ink, due to the fact that there really wasn’t much color ink to choose from back them. Of course people who dawn traditional tattoos now a days have a lot more color in them because of the advances in the tattoo ink. Also traditional tattoos are very simple and straight forward without a lot of detail. The men back in those days also liked to get one or two word phrases tattooed above or below their tattoo. For instance they would get Homeward, Busted, MOM, parents names and lover’s names.

Skin Care Tips For Your Tattoo

January 26, 2009 at 12:38 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

wash_hands

Contrary to what a lot of people think you do actually have to take care of your tattoo. You don’t just go to the tattoo parlor get your ink and walk away and not have to do anything to your new tattoo. There are a few steps that need to be taken to take care of your new tat as well as some maintenance that should be done to them on a daily basis to ensure your tattoo stays vibrant and as new as possible.

Below is a brief list of what you should do to care for your new tattoo.

1. Always, always wash your hands before you touch your new tattoo. You don’t want to get any kind of germs or bacteria in your tat.

2. Wash your new tattoo a few times a day with a very gentle soap, like Johnson and Johnson’s baby soap. Apply the soap to your tat with a clean finger and rub it in gently. Then rinse your tat over lukewarm water. Never ever rub your tattoo dry. You can pat it dry very gently with a soft towel or just let it air dry.

3. Be sure to apply neosporin to your tattoo with a clean finger at least twice a day. This will help your tattooto heal faster.

4. Most importantly, do no pick your tattoos scab. Yes it will itch but if you pick your scab and scratch it it will ruin the tattoo. You need to let the scab fall off on it’s own.

5. After your tattoo is completely healed apply lotion to it at least once a day to make sure it stays moisturized. If you follow this routine every day your tattoo will remain soft and smooth and the color will stay vibrant longer.

6. Always cover up your tattoo when in the sun and make sure you wear a sunblock of at least 45. And never ever expose a new tat to the sun!

Underage Tattooing And At Home Tattooing

January 24, 2009 at 5:25 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

The tattooing business is a very serious business. Not anyone can just sit down and fire up the tattoo gun and just “draw” on your skin. There is a lot of training and knowledge involved in the tattoo process. Sadly, there has been several people caught recently for operating at home tattoo parlors and for people tattooing underage children. Several people may not think that getting a tattoo underage is all that bad, but there are reasons for why the law states you have to be 18 years old to receive a tattoo and there are countless reasons to why you should not get a tattoo at someone’s house.

First off the main reason a lot of places make the legal age of tattooing 18 is because your body is still growing and your skin is still stretching so you might end up with a distorted tattoo. Also children under the age of 18 are not capable of making a wise decision regarding which tattoo design they are going to live with for the rest of their life. Teenagers are notorious for changing their minds every second of the day.

As far as the tattooing out of your home there are a lot of very serious reasons why this is bad. For one they more than likely do not have the proper cleaning equipment such as an autoclave to sterilize the tattoo equipment. Also tattooing is a lot harder than one may think. Tattoo artist are trained on how far in the skin they are suppose to penetrate when tattooing. If they don’t go far enough into the skin the tattoo could literally disappear over time or they could go too deep into the skin causes infection and other serious problems.

The best thing to do is wait until you are of legal age and go to an established tattoo parlor that actually has a place of business.

Tattoo Removal Business Booming

January 23, 2009 at 11:04 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

tattoo-removal

With the popularity of tattoos growing nearly everyday it’s not hard to believe that the tattoo removal business is also growing. Mainly do to the fact that several tattoo owner’s do not think through their tattoo design thoroughly and make bad decisions. Or they get the ill-fated lover’s name tattooed on them and then break up. Also woman have been picked on more these days for having tattoos and some woman can not take the negative gossip that goes with having a tattoo. So more and more people are turning to tattoo removal to make their un-thought out mistake go away. However, getting a tattoo removed isn’t all peaches and cream. The procedure is very painful, more painful than getting the actual tattoo. It is also very costly, and you normally have to go in for more than one session. Also the downfall to tattoo removal is that nine times out of ten the full tattoo design is not completely gone. You will still be able to faintly see your tattoo even after you have spend all the time, pain and money to make it go away.

Due to people’s carelessness the tattoo removal business is booming. Several doctors are searching out courses to get trained on how to do laser tattoo removal. Experts say that within the last few months the laser tattoo removal has seen a huge jump in business. Some say it’s because of the bad economy and people don’t want their visible tattoo to keep them from getting a job, while others have just made a bad tattoo decision.

This just goes to show everyone out there that you have to be 120% sure about your tattoo design before you sit down in that chair and get some ink tattooed on your skin.

Tattoo Regret: Brandy Norwood

January 22, 2009 at 3:17 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

brandy

Tattoos can be a wonderful form a self expression but unfortunately people tend to make mistakes when picking out their tattoo designs. It might seem all fine and dandy when you are 18 but when you are in your 40’s you might be scratching your head wondering why you got what you got tattooed on you and might even wish you would not have gotten it in the first place. Believe it or not this happens a lot more often than you would think.

The singer Brandy Norwood has recently admitted that she regrets getting every single one of her tattoos and wishes she could go back in time and decide not to get them. Brandy has a total of five tattoos, a very large one on her lower back, one on each shoulder, one on her ankle and one on her foot. She told the ladies of the talk show The View, “I’m done, because, when you’re a woman, sometimes it’s just too much… and I have too many.”

However, Brandy has recently admitted to Sister 2 Sister Magazine that she regrets her whole tattoo collection. She had some concerns when her six year old daughter approached her and told her she wanted a tattoo and Brandy talked her out of it. This is what Brandy had to say about regretting her tattoos and conniving her daughter not to wanting one.

“I told her, ‘Guess what? When mama gets 80 or 90 years old, these tattoos are going to look terrible. They’re going to be wrinkled, they’re going to look ugly. Mama wishes I never got a tattoo because I didn’t think about when I turn 80, how they’re going to be.’

“She just got a kick out of that. She said, ‘Well, you know what? I’m never going to get a tattoo because I don’t want my body to shrivel up when I get (to) 80 and my tattoos look a mess.’”

January 21, 2009 at 11:07 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Golden Globes Arrivals

The young 21 year old actress is probably most famous for her many independent films roles as well as her past relationship with Goth god himself, Marylin Manson. Evan has appeared in several movies in her short career. Evan became more well know after she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the movie Thirteen. Another love of Evan is tattoos. She has several of them, including a few that she regrets.

Below is a list of Evan’s tattoos:

1. An outlined black heart on the top of her left thigh.

2. A lighting bolt inside the black heart on the top of her left thigh.

3. The letter “j” on her left ankle, which was for her ex-boyfriend Jamie Bell

4. Wood used to have a small strawberry with leaves around it in the shape of a bird. But she got it covered up after with a black diamond and some squiggle design on either side of it.

5. Evan’s latest tattoo is on the bottom of her neck and it reads “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.

Evan has no problem talking about her tattoos and the meanings behind them. Here Evan explains her black heart and lighting bolt tattoo as well as her strawberry tattoo she got covered up.

“That movie (Across the Universe) changed my life. I got a freakin’ tattoo on my ankle for the movie. It’s strawberries, where the leaves are in the shape of a blackbird and diamonds for (Beatles song) ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.’ I got to sing ‘Blackbird’ (in the film) and my (character) name is Lucy in the film, so I got the diamonds.”

“I kind of always thought I would get a tattoo but I was waiting for something really special. This was a moment in my life I wanted to mark. I turned 18 and I was living on my own for the first time and I was in New York filming a Beatles musical. I thought it was a good time.”

“It’s supposed to be a strawberry with leaves in the shape of a bird, but everybody says, ‘Is that a ferret sticking out of an apple?’”

“It’s a lightning bolt, for David Bowie, who inspired me to act and sing, and a black heart,” she says. “That was my present (from Manson). Somebody came to the house. We both got black hearts. It represents mad love.”
