Tattoo Removal

We are all taught at a very young age that tattoos are forever and that you better be darn sure that you can live with your tattoo for the rest of your life. While this is great information and should be followed when thinking about getting a tattoo, it isn’t necessarily true. There are ways to get that unwanted tattoo removed, granted all of the procedures that are used are time consuming, expensive and painful. Also people should know that insurance will not help pay for it so you will have to pay for everything out of your own pocket. So one should not go into getting a tattoo with the thought of, Oh I can get it removed later if I don’t want it anymore. You should save yourself the money, time and pain and just not get a tattoo in the first place.

The three methods that are used to remove unwanted tattoos are as follows:

  • Laser surgery. Laser tattoo removal is the most common procedure that people go through to reduce the appearance of a tattoo. How it works is pulses of laser light pass through the top layer of skin where the light’s energy is absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This then creates a very low grade inflammation and allows your body to process the small areas of altered pigment. You will require several session to get rid of your tattoo or lighten it up enough to were it is barely noticeable. But people should know that this process might not completely erase your tattoo.
  • Dermabrasion. The process is done when the tattooed area is chilled until numb, once the skin is numb the tattooed area is sanded down. As you can imagine this process is very painful and will more than likely cause some scarring.
  • Surgical removal. Just like with anything a doctor can surgically cut out your unwanted tattoo and literally stitch the edges of your skin back together. However, this will more than likely leave a scar as well.

The best piece of advice is just to pick out a tattoo you can live with the rest of your life. Getting the tattoo removed is more painful and costly than actually getting the tattoo.

Celebrity Tattoos: Ashley Tisdale

July 29, 2009 at 12:30 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

ashleytisdale

People don’t seem to understand that just because you are a good girl and don’t party or do drugs doesn’t mean you can’t get a tattoo. There has been a negative stereotype on tattoos since day one when sailors, bikers, and criminals were the only ones to have them. However, times have changed, it is 2009 after all. Tattoos have come a long way since the dawn of time. Because tattoos have become so mainstream it’s not uncommon for a goody goody if you will to have one or more tattoos. Tattoos are a form of self expression and people should stop looking at them as a bad thing.

Well Disney star Ashley Tisdale is the latest Disney star to go out and get a tattoo. It is not known when Ashley got her tattoo, but she was seen coming out of Shamrock Tattoos last Sunday. Also no one is exactly sure  her tattoo is of. Ashley hasn’t come right out and admitted she has one or showed it off all the way. However, Ashley was caught wearing a tank top not too long ago exposing a portion of her tattoo. All that could be seen was Bel written in black ink on her back. Some believe that it says “Bella” while others think it might say “believe” either way it is certain that Miss. Tisdale is no longer a tattoo virgin.

So does this mean some parents will no longer let their children listen to her music or watch shows she is in? This just goes to show that just because someone has a tattoo doesn’t mean they are a bad person. Ashley has lead a pretty quiet life and she isn’t seen out partying doing drugs or doing wild and crazy things. So parents should still let their children look up to her.

Tattoo Precautions

July 28, 2009 at 12:29 pm (Uncategorized)

Tattooing2

When it comes to getting a tattoo there is a lot of things one must think about. You can’t just walk into a tattoo parlor, studio or shop and say, Hey I want a tattoo. A lot of thought and planning needs to go into this process. For one you need to pick out a design that you will be able to live with the rest of your life. Tattoos in a sense are forever, but if you have the time and money and can endure the pain than you can always get it removed. Instead of having to go through all that trouble it just best to pick out the right tattoo in the first place. It’s much better to be safe than sorry.

With the above being said there are a few precautions that you need to take when getting a tattoo. After all when you get a tattoo a needle is penetrating your skin several times, because of this you can contract some serious illness if the right precaution are not taking.

Below is a list of things you should take note about and make sure you see when getting a tattoo.

  • State or local license. Regulation requirements and licensing standards are different in every state to state. Because of this you should take the ignitive to check  with your city, county or state health department for information on licensing and regulations in your area.  Most importantly pick  a reputable tattoo studio that’s clean, tidy and professional and that employs only properly trained employees.
  • An autoclave. An autoclave is a heat sterilization machine that should be used to sterilize all non-disposable equipment after each customer. Instruments and supplies that can’t be sterilized with an autoclave should be disinfected with a commercial disinfectant or bleach solution after each use. These include drawer handles, tables and sinks.
  • Fresh equipment. This is very important. Make sure you see the tattoo artist  removes a needle and tubes from a sealed package before your procedure begins. Any pigments, trays and containers should be unused as well.
  • Gloves. This is a no brainier. When you get a tattoo it is natural for you to bleed and because of this you need to make sure, the tattoo artist must wash his or her hands and put on a fresh pair of latex gloves for each procedure. Also make sure that the tattoo artist only touches you with these gloves.

Sleeve Tattoos Becoming A Fad

July 27, 2009 at 12:27 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

tattoosleeve

With anything fads come and go and some have the ability to stand the test of time and be around forever, while others are simply that a fad and the coolness of them quickly fades out as quick as they became a fad. This is why it is so very important to not fall for getting a fad tattoo. Sure there are some fad tattoos that will be around forever such as butterflies, hearts, stars, flowers and portraits of loved ones. When thinking about a tattoo design just think long and hard and try to determine if what you are getting is something that can stand the test of time. Also it’s a good idea not to get a tattoo that someone suggests unless you are 120% on board with it. Tattoo designs are something that you should decide on, on your own.

However, there might be an alternative to tattoo fads. For sometime now tattoos sleeves have become a little more popular than they once were. More and more celebrities, athletes and rock-stars are sporting them. But tattoo sleeves are something that one must be 200% sure about, there is no turning back once you have them. However, there is a simply solution to getting tattoo sleeves without spending the money, time or having to go through the pain of getting a tattoo. A company is selling these tattoo sleeves that you can wear, they are made up of stretchable washable nylon. These sleeves come in a variety of designs, some feature tigers, snakes, dragons, celtic and tribal designs. So if you want to test drive a tattoo sleeve this is probably the best way to do it.

Can Tattoo Artist Help You Spot Skin Cancer?

July 25, 2009 at 12:25 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Tattooart

Most people look down upon tattoo artist and believe that they live rough and out of control lives. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, they may like to party a little more and have a good time, but where’s the crime in that? The truth of the matter is, tattoo artist are not dumb people and it takes a lot of skill to be able to ” draw” on someones skin. Not just anybody can pick up a tattoo gun and give a good quality tattoo. It seems that some Dermatologists feel tattoo artist can actually help customers spot skin cancer. They would like to offer a class to tattoo artists that can educate them in skin cancer and learn how to recognize a pre-cancerous legion. There are three kinds of cancerous legions they would like for them to learn to spot, basal cell, squamous cell and melanoma.

Of course these dermatologists realize that these tattoo artists are not doctor’s and really don’t have the authority to tell their customers it could be cancer. But they feel that since they work so closely with people’s skin that it would be great if they could give their client a heads up if they spotted something that looked questionable. They advice the tattoo artist’s to recommend to their customers to see a doctor and get it checked out and even go as far as saying they won’t tattoo them until they get checked out.

By these dermatologists having so much faith in tattoo artist it kind of gives the tattoo community some hope that maybe people will change their minds about the tattoo world, especially if they start saving lives!

Tattoos In The Workplace Becoming Less Taboo

July 23, 2009 at 2:19 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

biztattoo1

Every since tattoos have been around people automatically deem them inappropriate in the workplace. However, this negative stereotype might actually be loosing up a little bit. Tattoos are still a major problem for some industries and companies but some are starting to realize that just because an employee has a tattoo it doesn’t mean they can’t perform their job well. They also realize that their clients don’t have a problem with the tattoos and it has no effect on them doing business with them. But on the flip side, some jobs still consider them a taboo and very inappropriate. Lawyers for instance are looked upon as being very professional and most clients expect them to be professional and to dress in a professional way. Of course this doesn’t mean they can’t have tattoos, it just means they are discreet about them and cover them up.

There was actually a huge discussion held over the weekend entitled, Tattoos and Professionalism. Several business minded people showed up as well as some tattoo artist. This panel discussed whether or not people should be able to show off their tattoos in the work place. A Vice President of an advertising company admitted that their clients come to them because of their creativity and they have never heard of their employees tattoos being an issue with their client. After all tattoos are just like looks in a way. You shouldn’t judge someone because of their age, size, race or religious beliefs and the same should be said about tattoos. None of the above things have anything to do with a persons capability to do a job and do it well.

The Tattoo Curse Strikes Again

July 22, 2009 at 11:00 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , )

jermaine-dupri-janettat

People never seem to learn this lesson from other people who have been through this. It is pretty much a guarantee that once you get a lover’s name tattooed on you or get a portrait of them tattooed on your body that you will break up. This is not something that people pull out of the air it is a proven fact. For some unknown reason there is a tattoo curse on these tattoos. So if you are in a very happy relationship and feel the need to get a tattoo of your lover’s name or to get a portrait of them on your body just simply don’t. Within a short period of time the tattoo curse will take effect on your relationship and it will be no more.

Well it seems that, rapper, producers and songwriter Jermaine Dupri learned this lesson the hard way just like everyone else does. Let’s face it just because you are a celebrity does not mean that the tattoo curse will have no effect on you, in all honestly it seems to happen more to celebrities because they don’t learn from other celebrities mistakes. A few months ago Jermaine that it would be a wonderful idea to get this huge tattoo on the side of his body of the Virgin Mary, except the Virgin Mary was really his girlfriend of seven years, Janet Jackson. As you can imagine the tattoo curse hit them and the couple is no longer together.

So if you are thinking about getting a tattoo of a lover’s name or a portrait of them just simply dont’!

Keep Your Tattoo Clean And Moist

July 21, 2009 at 2:38 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

newtat

Several people out there are still unaware that after you get a tattoo that you have to care for it. You literally have to nurse it back to health to insure that an infection does not set in. After all a tattoo is an open wound on your skin so infection can set in very easily if it is not cared for properly and not kept clean. The are several different methods that are out there to take care of your tattoo. The important thing is that you keep it clean and keep it moist.

When it comes to cleaning your tattoo you just need to wash it with a gentle mild soap, like baby soap. You also need to make sure that whenever you touch it your hands are clean. Do not be rough with it, just gently wash it and pat or air dry. This needs to be done shortly after you have gotten your tattoo and at least once or twice a day while it is healing. Also beware that your tattoo may ooze some puss when you first take your bandage off. This is normal but if this continues you need to contact a doctor because more than likely an infection is starting to take place.

The second important care tip is to keep your tattoo moist. There has been a lot of talk about this one. Some people recommend the following and others don’t. Just go by what you tattoo artist recommends. A lot of people advice against using Petroleum-based products, simply because they don’t help in healing or preventing infection. Neosporin is one of the most common antibiotic ointment that is recommended, some find to preserve the tattoo ink colors well too. Some hold bacitracin as the big thing in tattoo after care. It fights infection and keeps the tattooed skin moist and healthy. Others have found A&D ointment a good alternative. It has vitamins to promote healing though it doesn’t fight infection.

The Law Is Cracking Down On Tattoo Shops

July 20, 2009 at 8:51 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

tattooing

A lot of people kind of brush of this kind of thing but there has been a huge problem here lately with tattoo shops, parlors or studios operating without a license and tattooing underage people. Some may think this is no big deal but it is a huge deal. Rhianna is even in some trouble for tattooing her friends at the tattoo shop she frequents all the time in New York because she is not a license tattoo artist. Tattooing is an art and not just anyone can pick up a tattoo gun and give a tattoo. It takes a lot of training and trail and error before an artist is ready to tattoo people. Not to mention all the health risks that are involved. Officials are even cracking down on people who tattoo out of their home. There are so many things that are wrong with this. For one they more than likely do not have the proper sterilizing equipment in their house and they don’t have the machine there to copy the tattoo design onto transfer paper, thus leaving them to free hand which is a very scary thing because if they mess up there is nothing that can be done.

This is why it is so very important for you to make darn sure that the tattoo shop, parlor or studio that you use is operating under the laws in your state. Every state has different laws when it comes to tattooing. However, they all should have some sort of license and should have been inspected by the health department and most important there should be an autoclave on site that is sterilizing the tattooing equipment.

50 Cent Is Getting Rid Of His Tattoos

July 18, 2009 at 2:23 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , )

50

It looks like famous rapper 50 Cent also know as Fiddy is sick of all his tattoos and is taking action to fix that problem. Fiddy doesn’t regret any of his tattoos but he feels that since he is trying to pursue an acting career that it is probably in his best interest to get most of his very noticeable tattoos removed. 50 Cent says that he is sick and tired of showing up four hours before call time just so he can sit in a chair  for four hours and get his tattoos covered up. Don’t fret though he is not getting rid of all of his tattoos. Fiddy is going to keep his very well known tattoo that covers his entire back that says 50 and above that Southside.

This is a great example to all the up in coming actors and actress’s. Why it is your right to have tattoos, you have to be aware that some directors are not fond of them. If you fit the part for the role and depending on how many tattoos you have and how big they are you will spend hours upon hours of your time in the make up chair covering them up. So give this some thought when thinking about getting a tattoo. Of course there is always an expectation to the rule like Angelina Jolie. She is a wonderful actress and any director will work with her no matter how many tattoos she has. But most people do not fall in this category. It is best when deciding to get a tattoo to get one that is in a less noticeable place and that can be covered up with clothing easily.
