Be In The Right Frame Of Mind When Getting A Tattoo

August 13, 2009 at 3:46 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , )

armtat

If you do your research about tattoos you will find that a lot of people state that you need to be in the right frame of mind before you go out and get inked. Getting tattooed is a very serious thing and should never be decided on the spur of the moment, those tattoos almost always end up being a regret or a “what the heck was I thinking” tattoo. If you don’t want to fall in that category than listen up.

First and foremost you should put some serious thought into making the decision to get a tattoo. Flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to getting ink isn’t a very good idea. Tattoos need to be thought out and researched. Secondly, you need to make sure you are in the right state of mind. Getting a tattoo because you are mad at someone and want to do something to rub in their face is no reason to get a tattoo. Moreover, you need to make sure you are alcohol and drug free, those two elements do not mix well when one is getting a tattoo. They can cause you to bleed more and cause the healing process to take longer or complications to occur during the healing process. Lastly, being in the right state of mind will help you be able to cope with the pain better. When you sit down to get your body art  you should be well rested, in good health, and clear headed. It is also important not get a tattoo when you are depressed or having just experience something traumatic or life changing.

Lady Gaga Gets New Tattoo

August 12, 2009 at 9:33 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

gagatat.jpg.

The very risque “Love Game” singer is no stranger to the tattoo gun and absolutely loves showing off her tattoos when she can. She also loves talking about and telling the stories behind her tattoos. The very popular, Lady Gaga is currently on tour in Japan and she decided to add some more ink to her every growing tattoo collection. The “Poker Face” singer that is probably best known for her crazy, over the top and very risque outfits and song lyrics got a new tattoo on the inner part of her left bicep.

Lady Gaga got this tattoo at midnight when she was in Osaka, Japan. The new tattoo reads in a scripted writing, “In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?'”

So one may wonder what this tattoo means and why she decided to get it permanently inked on her bicep. Lady Gaga, who’s real name is Stefani Germanotta, says its a quote from favorite poet Rainer Maria Rilke. By Gaga getting this new a fairly large tattoo in a fairly noticeable place for a woman it’s just proof that a beautiful woman can get a tattoo and it not take away from her beauty. More and more woman are getting riskier went it comes to getting tattoo and what they get them of. It’s kind of like all the woman in the world are flipping the bird to all those haters and nay sayers.

Do Your Research On A Tattoo Artist

August 11, 2009 at 3:35 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

marilyntat

If you are a tattoo virgin and do not have a tattoo artist that you regularly go to than you should most definitely do your research on a tattoo artist. There are hundreds of tattoos artists out there but some are better than others. For instance some tattoo artists specialize in certain kinds of tattoos. Take portrait tattoos, these tattoos are very hard to do. Not just any one can draw a picture of a real live person on your skin. This kind of tattoo takes a lot of training and experience. Portrait tattoos are one of the most difficult to do and not ever tattoo artist can pull them off.

So if you have your heart set on getting a portrait tattoo do your research first and talk to your tattoo artist and see if they feel comfortable doing one. Also don’t be shy, look through their tattoo book of people they have tattooed before. Not only will this ease your mind that they are competent but it will also give you an idea of what kind of tattoo they excel at. If your tattoo artist does not feel comfortable doing a portrait tattoo then don’t be afraid to ask them to recommend someone they feel would do the job better. More than likely there will be someone in the tattoo shop that specializes in these tattoos so you won’t have to leave to comfort of your tattoo shop. If no one has experience with them in the shop simply ask for a recommendation of another artist.

Just remember when trying to find a tattoo artist you need to make sure you see pictures of their work or know someone who has been tattooed by them. There is nothing worse than getting a bad quality tattoo.

Hurry Up And Wait

August 8, 2009 at 11:38 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

girl-tattoos

When someone makes up their mind to get a tattoo the first thing they want to do is rush out to the nearest tattoo parlor, studio or shop and get their desired ink. Well this sudden urge could make for a huge regret later on down the road. Tattoos are a very serious thing, and shouldn’t be taken lightly. They are in fact permanent, so if you wake up one day and say, I don’t want this thing any more there is no taking some soap and water it to and rubbing it off. This is why it is so important to think things through when it comes to a tattoo.

Believe it or not more people than you think, think about their tattoos for years sometimes. It is completely normal to go through phases when thinking about getting a tattoo. You want it, you think no I don’t want it, then you want it again. It’s best to just wait and see how your feel about something than rushing into a life long commitment and having regrets about it later on down the road. There is nothing worse than having to live with an unwanted tattoo.

So when you are thinking about getting a tattoo, whether it be your first or twentieth, give it some thought and think about it and think about it some more. Don’t just rush out and get inked every time you have the urge to. If you did this you will more than likely be covered in several tattoos that you will not like or want in a few years. Just like the old saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Don’t Be A Victim To Fad Tattoos

August 6, 2009 at 4:01 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

twilight-6

When one decides to get a tattoo is can be a hard decision, there are so many tattoo designs to pick from it is really hard to decide which one is for you and which one you fell you can live with for the rest of your life. This is why it is so very important to put a lot of thought to this decision. One of the worst things you can do is go out and get a fad tattoo. Fad tattoos are something that is really popular at the time you get them but don’t necessarily stand up to the test of time because like any fad they come and go. Since tattoos are permanent and you can’t just rub it off when you don’t want it anymore it’s best to pick a tattoo design that means something special to you and that you will never regret.

Believe it or not some people do get fad tattoos just for the sake of having them and don’t think about to repercussions later on down the road. For instance, Twilight exploded onto the bookshelves and now the big screen and it a very popular series. That doesn’t mean you should rush out a get a tattoo of Edward Cullen on your body. Unfortunately, a lot of people are doing this and in a few years when the hysteria of Twilight dies down these people will probably be asking themselves why they got these tattoos. Another big fad that is going on is people are getting tattoos of celebrities children, this is just plain ridiculous. These kids have nothing to do with you or your life so it is best to stay away from this fad.

The moral of the story is put some serious thought into your tattoo design don’t get something that is very popular now and won’t be a in a few years. It’s also wise to stay away from tattoos of celebrities. A lot of celebrities come and go and can’t last in Hollywood and you would feel really stupid if you had one of them tattooed on you.

Green Day Talks Tattoos

August 5, 2009 at 12:24 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , )

greenday

It is very unusual for any rock band not to have at least one member in the band covered in tattoos if not all of them. Well the punk band Green Day follows that rule. All three band members have several tattoos of their own and have never had any problems showing them off or even talking about them. They love their tattoos so much that they opened up to a tattoo magazine and gave them a little insight on their favorite tattoos they have and what their next tattoo plan are.

The front man of the group Billie Joe Armstrong may surprise you when you learn what his favorite tattoo is on his body. It is actually a photo booth snapshots of him and his wife Adrienne. Of course bassist Mike Drint and drummer Tre Cool have a little more amusing stories to tell when it comes to their tattoos and their tattoo experiences. Mike for instance said that his wife got his name tattooed on the inside of her lip, talk about painful. Well Mike has declared that he will one up his wife and get her name tattooed on his eyeball, whether or not he is kidding is unknown. Now for the drummer Tre, he is not like most rock n’ rollers, he admits that he is a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to getting tattoos, but he loves them so much that he just puts up with it. He shares that when he was in Oakland getting a tattoo of an anchor on his wrist he had to take a break and went outside and actually passed out on the sidewalk. So why does Tre endure this pain, maybe to keep up with his father who has been tattooing himself for sometime now.

Tattoos And Pain

August 4, 2009 at 4:24 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

backtats

One of the first things that comes to someones mind when thinking about getting a tattoo is the pain involved with it.Unfortunately, getting a tattoo is painful, however, some places are more painful than others. Also the amount of pain that one experience also has to do with their level of pain tolerance. Everyone on the earth has a different pain tolerance, so one person may only experience a little bit of pain and discomfort, while someone else may experience a lot of pain and discomfort. So if you can’t handle pain too well than getting a tattoo is probably not the best thing for you.

However, there are more painful places on your body to receive a tattoo. If you are hell bent and determined to get a tattoo but are concerned about the pain than you should stay away from boney areas like, like your skull, spine, ribs elbow, sternum, etc. These areas are not only more painful but you will not only have to deal with the pain, but you will have to deal with these areas vibrating, which causes another unpleasant feeling. Also other areas that tend to be painful are the fleshy areas on ones body like the like the stomach, crotch area, inner thighs, under arm, and armpit. These places seem to cause a much more sharp pain and a pinching feeling.

If you can’t handle the pain and really want a tattoo than you should stick with areas that have more muscle mass to them like your arms or the back or your calve. Also keep in mind the state of mind you are in when you get your tattoo also can help contribute to how much pain you will be in. It is important to be clear headed, well rested and not emotional unstable.

Tattoo Removal

July 30, 2009 at 12:31 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

joel

We are all taught at a very young age that tattoos are forever and that you better be darn sure that you can live with your tattoo for the rest of your life. While this is great information and should be followed when thinking about getting a tattoo, it isn’t necessarily true. There are ways to get that unwanted tattoo removed, granted all of the procedures that are used are time consuming, expensive and painful. Also people should know that insurance will not help pay for it so you will have to pay for everything out of your own pocket. So one should not go into getting a tattoo with the thought of, Oh I can get it removed later if I don’t want it anymore. You should save yourself the money, time and pain and just not get a tattoo in the first place.

The three methods that are used to remove unwanted tattoos are as follows:

  • Laser surgery. Laser tattoo removal is the most common procedure that people go through to reduce the appearance of a tattoo. How it works is pulses of laser light pass through the top layer of skin where the light’s energy is absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This then creates a very low grade inflammation and allows your body to process the small areas of altered pigment. You will require several session to get rid of your tattoo or lighten it up enough to were it is barely noticeable. But people should know that this process might not completely erase your tattoo.
  • Dermabrasion. The process is done when the tattooed area is chilled until numb, once the skin is numb the tattooed area is sanded down. As you can imagine this process is very painful and will more than likely cause some scarring.
  • Surgical removal. Just like with anything a doctor can surgically cut out your unwanted tattoo and literally stitch the edges of your skin back together. However, this will more than likely leave a scar as well.

The best piece of advice is just to pick out a tattoo you can live with the rest of your life. Getting the tattoo removed is more painful and costly than actually getting the tattoo.

Celebrity Tattoos: Ashley Tisdale

July 29, 2009 at 12:30 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

ashleytisdale

People don’t seem to understand that just because you are a good girl and don’t party or do drugs doesn’t mean you can’t get a tattoo. There has been a negative stereotype on tattoos since day one when sailors, bikers, and criminals were the only ones to have them. However, times have changed, it is 2009 after all. Tattoos have come a long way since the dawn of time. Because tattoos have become so mainstream it’s not uncommon for a goody goody if you will to have one or more tattoos. Tattoos are a form of self expression and people should stop looking at them as a bad thing.

Well Disney star Ashley Tisdale is the latest Disney star to go out and get a tattoo. It is not known when Ashley got her tattoo, but she was seen coming out of Shamrock Tattoos last Sunday. Also no one is exactly sure  her tattoo is of. Ashley hasn’t come right out and admitted she has one or showed it off all the way. However, Ashley was caught wearing a tank top not too long ago exposing a portion of her tattoo. All that could be seen was Bel written in black ink on her back. Some believe that it says “Bella” while others think it might say “believe” either way it is certain that Miss. Tisdale is no longer a tattoo virgin.

So does this mean some parents will no longer let their children listen to her music or watch shows she is in? This just goes to show that just because someone has a tattoo doesn’t mean they are a bad person. Ashley has lead a pretty quiet life and she isn’t seen out partying doing drugs or doing wild and crazy things. So parents should still let their children look up to her.
