Tattoos Help Grieving Process

People go out and get tattoos for all sorts of reason, whether it be to celebrate a birth, to form a connection with someone, to moralize someone you love or to simply help yourself grieve the loss of a loved one. More people than you would think get a tattoo to help them remember a loved one that has passed on. Not only does this tattoo help the person who is getting it to remember the person they are immortalizing but it truly can help with the grieving process. It helps the one left here on earth feel like they have a piece of their lost one with them forever and no one can take that away from them.

Some tattoo parlors admit that as  much as 30% of their business is from memorial tattoos. Of course psychologists highly recommend that people don’t do this. However, they do recognize that a tattoo can help someone grieve the loss of a loves one. But they also quickly admit that if someone goes through with a memorial tattoo that they might see it as an impulse decision later on in life, which is complete nonsense. If you are getting a tattoo to remember a lost loved one how could you end up regretting it? If something as simple as a tattoo is going to help someone get over the loss of a loved on than by all means they should do it. Just remember to keep the same rules for getting a regular a tattoo in mind. Think long and hard about your design, think about size and most importantly the location.

The Importance Of Taking Care Of New Tattoo

June 14, 2009 at 1:46 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

tattoo001-main_Full

It is very important for people to realize that taking care of your new tattoo is serious. You should never blow off taking care of your new body art. Since the tattoo needle breaches your skin an infection can set in. However, it is not common for a tattoo to get infected but if you do not take care of it properly it very well could get infected. The important thing to know is that your tattoo artist should be wearing disposable gloves when administering your tattoo. Also it is very important to know and see that they sterilize their equipment. If they don’t do this not only is this unsanitary but it could most definitely cause an infection to occur not to mention some sort of blood related disease, such as HIV, AIDs or hepatitis.

After your tattoo is all done your artist should inform you on the proper way to take care of your new tattoo. If you have any questions this is the time you should ask. It has been debated against several people that you should not use neosporean or even vaseline on your new tattoo. However, some artist do recommend this. The best piece of advice is just do what your particular artist tells you to do. The general rule of thumb for tattoo aftercare is to keep it clean. Wash your new tattoo with a gentle soap and air or pat dry one or two times a day. Also you should apply some kind of ointment to the area at least twice a day until the tattoo is healed which can be up to one to two weeks. Thirdly, it is very important not to pick out your tattoo’ scab, you should let it fall off on it owns. Lastly, stay out of the direct sun until your tattoo is healed and make sure to apply lotion to it everyday to keep it moisturized and if you are going to be out in the sun be sure to apply sunscreen to your tattoo.

Celebrity Dads With Tattoos

June 11, 2009 at 2:37 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

david-beckham-back-tattoos

Tattoos have always been a kind of taboo subject for some because they just don’t understand the whole tattoo thing. With that being said it is a little more society friendly for a man to have a tattoo. Maybe it has to do with the fact that back in the 50’s and 60’s men were basically the only ones who had tattoos. That doesn’t mean some women did, but if they did they kept it quite. However, tattoos were still not expect unless you were in the service or a sailor even then they were still looked down upon because back in those says criminals, greasers and men who were up to know good had tattoos. Things have changed greatly over time but tattoos are still looked down upon. Maybe some with change their mind when they realize these celebrity dads have several tattoos of their own.

1. Johnny Depp- who seems to get better with age has at least 13 tattoos, one for each of this children, one of his mother”s name. However, he has not yet gotten Vanessa’s name tattooed on her. He must have learned his lesson from the Winona days.

2. David Beckham- the sexy soccer star has nearly half his body covered in tattoos. He has all threes son’ names tattooed on him along with wife Victoria’s.

3. Eminem- the outrageous rapper has several tattoos all over his body including a very cute portrait of daughter Hailie.

4. Sylvester Stallone -has a portrait of wife, Jennifer Flavin, is tattooed on his right shoulder and bicep, he also has  three roses representing their daughters.

5. Kobe Bryant –  has his wife and daughter’s name on his left arm.

6. Tommy Lee – literally has more than half his body covered in tattoos. Tommy has even admitted  he has lost count of how many tattoos he has.

7.Lebron James – His first son’s one-year old image is tattooed on the inside of his left arm and later got his mother’s name, Gloria, on his right shoulder. When his second son was born, he had his name (Bryce Maximus) on his left forearm.

8. Mark Wahlberg- has a total of four tattoos some that he regrets.

Would You Get A Tattoo If It Was Free?

June 10, 2009 at 8:47 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Tattoo_Girl

A lot of people have their reasons for not having tattoos, for some it’s because they don’t like them, they are afraid of needles, they don’t know what design to get and simply because they are rather expensive. So that’ raises the question if you could get a tattoo for free would you get one? This is an excellent question and there really isn’t a right or wrong answer to it. Of course the old saying of  “You get what you pay for” is a good saying to live by. However, there are some exceptions to the rule. Some tattoo parlors or studios do hold special events at their place of business which sometime include a free tattoo. If you are a tattoo virgin and really want a tattoo keep your eye and ears open for a tattoo parlor or studio in your area to see if they are holding such an event.

Some tattoo parlors have special fund raiser for this. Some require you to give a donation to the human society or to an animal shelter, while others require a donation to breast cancer, and while others have a catch like you have to get your free tattoo of the number 13 or a certain band’s name. But if any of these floats your boat and is something you want then you can actually get your free tattoo. But for the most part if the tattoo you are getting doesn’t cost that much, you should raise an eyebrow and think twice about getting it. It’s always best to see work that your tattoo artist has done to make sure they do good quality work. If they do and then make decision from there. And most important never, never ask for a discount on a tattoo. You will not get one, not unless you are a repeat customer or a good friend.

Why Are So Many People Getting Their Tattoos Removed?

June 9, 2009 at 2:36 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

handtat

Surprisingly tattoo removal is booming right now. This is a perfect opportunity for newly tattooed people or people who are thinking about getting their first tattoo to listen up. Getting a tattoo should not be taken lightly and a lot of thinking and planning should be put into this important decision. We are all taught that tattoos are forever. Yes they indeed are forever but you can get them removed by a laser if you truly wish to get rid of it and you have the financial means to do so. So one may wonder why now is laser tattoo removal becoming so popular especially in these difficult economic times.

The simply answer that is, people are getting their tattoos removed because they fear that a visible tattoo may cost them a job. With jobs numbered right now it’s everyone for themselves and if a employer doesn’t like your tattoo they can pass you up and hire someone else that does not have a tattoo or a visible one for that matter. This is the perfect opportunity for young people to realize that tattoo placement can come back and haunt you later on down the road. If you are planning on having a good paying job or want to work in the corporate environment it is very critical that you get a tattoo that can be covered up. Tattoos are slowly becoming less faux pas but tattoos in the work place is still a very big taboo. It is estimated that 45 million have a tattoo and at least 17% of them regret their tattoo choice or location of their tattoo. Just keep these very useful tips and statistics in mind and don’t become one yourself. Think things through when it comes to getting a tattoo.

Angelina Jolie Might Still Have Billy Bob Tattoo

June 8, 2009 at 9:01 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

angelina jolie tattoos 1

It’s old news that super star and mother of sex adorable children, Angelina Jolie is a fan of tattoos. It’s also old news that she got a tattoo of ex-husband Billy Bob Thorton’s name removed from her upper arm along with a dragon, soon after they divorced. Well there hasn’t been confirmation about this but for the first time a tattoo artist is confirming that Angelina Jolie got  Billy Bob’s name not only tattooed on her arm but also on her bikini area. The artist insisted that she tried to talk Angie out of getting Billy Bob’s name tattooed in this very private area, but she reveals after Angie begging her for two or three weeks she just gave in.

We all know now that Angelina wanted to erase that memory from her life otherwise she wouldnt’ have gotten his name removed from her arm. So it makes one wonder if she got the other intimate tattoo removed and replaced with Brad’s name. Angelina has admitted that she has a private tattoo that represents her lover and father of her six children, Brad Pitt. Brad also reciprocated this gesture by getting  Angelina’s birthday tattooed on his stomach.

Just as we all look up to these celebrities we should also take this as a lesson learned. Even though Angelina is a huge A-list star she has made several tattoo mistakes. Even her tattoo artist advised against the tattoo. So next time you are thinking, hey it would be awesome to have my boyfriend or husband’s name tattooed on me, think back to Angelina Jolie or even mega heart throb Johnny Depp. Everyone is well aware of his Wino Forever tattoo, which originally said Winona Forever. It’s just best not to do it.

Is The Negative Stigma On Tattoos Diminishing?

June 6, 2009 at 11:56 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

chevytat

Whether the tattoo community likes it or not they are always taking criticism from people. Some people just don’t understand that tattoos are a good positive thing and they can’t seem to be past the negative aspect of tattoos. Which if these tattoo people would educate themselves on tattoos and the tattoo community they would find out that these awful rough and tumble, hoodlums are actually a great asset to the community. Several tattoo parlors or tattoo studios as some like to be called have charity events going on at the places of business and they raise money all the time for great cause.

Slowly year by year the negative astigmatism that is associated with tattoos has started to diminish. Because of this several baby boomers are heading out to their local tattoo parlor or tattoo studio to get the ink they have always wanted but felt society would not except them because of it.  So why the reason for baby boomers all of a sudden getting inked? Well some tattoo artist say it’s because they felt it wasn’t social acceptable 15 to 20 years ago and a lot of them are facing retirement now and just don’t care what anyone thinks. Several tattoo parlors are reporting that they are seeing a rise in people between the age of 40 and their mid 50’s getting their first tattoos. This piece of news makes sense especially since a poll that was conducted in 2008  revealed that about 20 percent of adults between the age of 40 and 64 reported having one or more tattoos. Another reason these age group is starting to get tattoos this late in life is because people are becoming more comfortable and curious about body art.

Cosmetic Tattoos

June 4, 2009 at 1:48 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

cosmetic-tattoos

When one first thinks of a tattoo they think of some design inked on a rough and tumble biker, and sailor. Well news flash bikers and sailors are no longer the only people getting inked these days, mother, aunts and even grannies are heading to tattoo parlors to get inked. However, some of them are opting for a little less traditional tattoo. Believe it or not you can actually get your “make up” permanently tattooed on you. No more worrying about your make up wearing off or worrying about applying it in the morning. Once you wake up you are literally ready to go. However, this tattoo process is a little different than the traditional tattoos.

Just like the traditional tattoos these make up tattoos are injected into the dermis, your second layer of skin. However,  the cosmetic tattoos use a subtle color palette that aims to naturally enhance assets. Unlike traditional tattoos a topical ointment is applied to your face to numb the area that is receiving the tattoo. The most common make up tattoos are as follows: the eyebrows, lip liner, eye liner and full on lipstick. It takes any where from 4 days to 2 weeks for the make up tattoo to heal. Once it is healed you may have to get a touch up in between four and eight weeks after initially getting the make up tattooed.  Everyone is different so keep this in mind you may even have to go for a third if you are not happy with the results. After that you should be good for a few years. Please note that your face will appear to be very red, swollen and not normal after getting this procedure done. So you may want to plan your schedule around that.

Foot infections can turn very bad very quickly and need to be treated immediately.
