Another One Bites The Dust

People never seem to learn that getting someones names tattooed on your body besides your own or your child’s name is going to end in disaster, whether you like it or not. Granted there probably are very few people out there that have not yet been effected by the lover’s name tattoo curse. However, it is safe to say that they will sooner or later. No one is safe from this curse once the ink drys be prepared for your relationship to start going down hill.

Practically every tattoo artist out there will tell you the worst possible mistake that anyone could make when it comes to getting a tattoo is getting a tattoo of a lover’s name. Even if that lover is your spouse, because divorces do happen. This is what many refer to as the big tattoo no no. It looks like Katie Price, aka Jordan is the latest celebrity if you will call her that, to fall victim to the lover’s name tattoo curse. Ironically, Kate just got Peter’s name (Pete) tattooed around her wrist in March as a tribute to her husband to how much she loves him and months later Peter Andre filed for divorce from his wife Katie.

Katie has wasted no time in getting that tattoo covered up. Well more like crossed out. Katie paid £85 to have a black cross through the tattoo, which reads ‘Pete’. Katie insists that she wants to show that Peter is no longer part of her life. She should have just not gotten the tattoo in the first place. Once again take this as a lesson learned.

Tattoo Trends Are Not Always The Best Route To Go

June 27, 2009 at 8:14 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

armband-tattoo

When it comes to getting a tattoo one of the hardest decisions to make besides deciding to get the tattoo is what tattoo design to get and where on your body you should get it at. These are all very important decisions that one should make. However, it is best to stay away from tattoo trends because you have a very high probability that your tattoo design that was once popular will not look so great a few years down the road. After all trends or fads  fade out of style all the time. The best piece of advise is just to simply stay away from tattoo trends, unless it is something that you truly want and can live with forever.

For instance in the late 1990’s is was very popular for men and women to get a barbwire tattooed around their bicep, ankle or wrist. Now that nearly a decade has past, those people who have gotten one of those barbwire tattoos are probably thinking, “Why did I get this tattooed on me?”

On the flip side there are some tattoo trends that are endless and will never go out of style. Take the very popular and feminine butterfly. A butterfly is the number one tattoo that women ask for. The great thing about butterflies is that there are so many different, designs, shapes, sizes, and colors that one can choose from to make it their own. So the likelihood of two people having the same butterfly tattoo are pretty slim to none, unless it was done on purpose of course.

When thinking about getting a tattoo try to stay away from tattoo trends. After all trend means something that is popular at that time, not forever like a tattoo is.

Cleanliness Is Not A Laughing Matter

June 25, 2009 at 2:35 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

tattooing

When it comes to getting a tattoo, cleanliness is no laughing matter. Many may think it’s not that big of a deal to make sure the tattoo parlor or studio that you are using is following the proper health codes and using proper sterilizing equipment. This is no laughing matter. If a tattoo parlor or tattoo studio does not use to correct sterilizing equipment and does not follow the proper health codes you could very easily end up with HIV or hepatitis.

Well respected tattoo artists are urging people to be extra cautious when it comes to getting a tattoo. These extra precautions have been brought up because Zipp’s Tattoo parlour in Edmonton, was closed don due to unsanitary conditions. Also heath officials are encouraging anyone who got tattoo at this tattoo parlor to go out and get an HIV or hepatitis test immediately. Zipp’s Tattoo parlor was using unsterilized instruments, as well as not using enough  antiseptic and there was evidence of them giving tattoos to animals in the studio.

Tattoo artist urge tattoo seekers to evaluate the tattoo studio you are visiting and to ask questions about how they sterilize their equipment. Another no brainier is to make sure the tattoo artist is wearing some sort of disposable rubber glove. Another great tip to make sure they are using clean ink with you. Tattoo artist should pour a small amount of ink into a little cup to use for your tattoo session. Well respected tattoo artist also say to stay away from scratchers – people who give low-cost tattoos out of their homes. Not only can you not be certain about how clean their equipment is you may not be able to see how good of a job they do.

Megan Fox Done With Tattoos

June 24, 2009 at 6:53 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

meganfox-maxim

Shockingly enough the Transformer beauty has ended her love affair and addiction to tattoos. Perhaps her mother’s constant begging not to get anymore tattoos has finally gotten to Megan. Whether it was her mother’s influence or not this sexy actress will not be getting any more tattoos on her gorgeous body. Despite the fact that Megan announced that she wanted to get a sleeve done on one of her arms. She has since retracted that statement and now says no more tattoos. Megan claims her reasoning for scrapping the idea of  tattoo sleeve is she fears she may regret it later on in her life and doesn’t want to regret going under the needle.

However, Megan does admit that tattoos are addicting and that she loves the rush she gets when she gets a new tattoo, but insists it’s probably best to stop while she is a head. She has a total of nine tattoos and that seems plenty enough for this sex symbol. Megan says she is trying to refrain from going forward with her tattoo sleeve because she doesn’t want to be 40 years old looking in the mirror at herself  saying,  ‘Oh my God — what did I do?'”

We should all learn a lesson from Megan. While tattoos are great and wonderful you do need to know when to say when. Everyone has there own perception of too much, it’s just important to admit to yourself that you need to stop. Think extra long and hard if you should get another tattoo if you already have several.

Take This As A Lesson Learned

June 23, 2009 at 7:02 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

kimberley-vlaminck

It is literally a no brainier that when it comes to picking out a tattoo design that you have got to be 200% sure about your design. Not only is is important to be 200% sure about your tattoo design but you need to thoroughly think through where you want your tattoo to be. It’s best to pick a location on your body where you can cover your tattoo up if need be. Some people just don’t think these things through. Take Eighteen-year-old Kimberly Vlaeminck for example. She went to a  tattoo parlor to get three stars tattooed on her face, which is most certainly not the best place to get a tattoo. Well to Kimberly’s horror she ended up with 56 stars tattooed on her face.

As you can imagine this girl is very unhappy with her tattoo experience and is trying to sue the tattoo artist that tattooed her. Kimberly is claiming that she feel asleep during the tattoo process and when she awoke the left side of her face was covered with 56 stars. Not only it is highly unlikely for someone to fall asleep while getting a tattoo it seems that there might have been a language barrier that helped turn those 3 stars into 56 starts. The tattoo artist said he understood her perfectly, she asked for 56 stars and she got 56 stars. The tattoo artist also insists that Kimberly was awoke the whole time she was getting tattooed

Let this be a lesson learned. Do not ask to get tattooed on your face and absolutely do not get a tattoo in a foreign country. You do not want to risk them misunderstanding what you are asking for.

UPDATE: Kimberly has now admitted that she lied about not wanting the 56 stars on her face. She now says that she indeed asked for all 56 stars and that she was awoke during the whole process.

How Much Does It Cost To Remove A Tattoo

June 22, 2009 at 7:29 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

tattoo-removal

When are all taught that tattoos are forever so you should be darn sure that the tattoo design your are getting inked on your skin that you will be able to live with it for the rest of your life. With that being said the above statement isn’t necessarily true. Tattoos in a sense are forever but if you have the money and can endure the pain of getting a tattoo removed by a laser you can always go down the route. However, getting a tattoo removed by a laser doesn’t always mean your tattoo will be gone forever. You can develop some scarring where the tattoo was and more than likely you will be able to still faintly see the tattoo, not unless you get it covered up with another tattoo. But if that is the case make sure you don’t make the same mistake again and be 200% sure that the new tattoo design you are getting is something you can live with for the rest of your life.

The tattoo removal business is ironically booming right now. So  you should not have a hard time finding a facility to remove your unwanted tattoo. Now for the facts about laser tattoo removal. Insurance will not pay for these procedures and one session will not make your tattoo mistake go away. Often it takes up to 8 to 12 very painful sessions to complete the tattoo removal process. Now for the cost, it typically cost anywhere from $50 to $100 per square inch of course some places charge more. If you want numbing cream to help with the pain that is an extra $75 per session. Also if you tattoo is colored you will be charge more as well as colored tattoos are harder to get rid of.  Lastly, you have to wait 8 to 12 weeks between sessions. So the moral of this story is, don’t make the tattoo mistake in the first place. Think long and hard about your tattoo design and the location you want your tattoo and stay away from lover’s names. It’s best to keep the it’s forever in your mind.

How To Preserve Your New Tattoo

June 20, 2009 at 8:55 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , , )

CIMG2131

It may come many as a surprise that your actually need to take of your tattoo not only after you have just gotten it but for the rest of your life. After all once you decided to get  a tattoo your are making a life time commitment to your tattoo and you should continue to care for it years down the road. Many people are not aware of this and because of this their tattoo may not seem as vibrant and will most definitely fade. The steps that it takes to preserve your tattoo is nothing tendency and can be done in a matter of a minute or two. If you follow the below steps you should never have to worry about your tattoo looking dull or fading.

1. The number one after care tip for your tattoo is to keep it out of the direct sunlight as often as possible. If you are going to be in the sun be sure to put a high SPF sunscreen like 45 or 50 on it and be sure to reapply as needed. Also never ever expose your brand new tattoo to the direct sun.

2. It is important not to go swimming, get in a hot tube or take a bath after getting a new tattoo. This can cause it to not heal properly and can cause fading to occur.

3. Be sure to keep your tattoo moisturized for the rest of your life. Take two seconds in the morning after you get out of the shower and apply some lotion to your tattoo. Some people recommend using Vaseline to help from fading.

4. It is very important not to shave any areas where you have gotten a tattoo for at least 30 days after those 30 days you can but be carefully and try not to cut yourself.

5. When your tattoo is healing make sure you only touch it with clean hands.

6. Your tattoo will itch after you have gotten it and it is healing. It is very important to not pick or scratch at your tattoo. This will cause the scab to fall off your tattoo and your tattoo could end up having a bunch of white dots in it.

Don’t Psych Yourself Up Too Much About Getting A Tattoo

June 18, 2009 at 3:14 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , )

butterfly1

One of the first things people associate tattoos with that are thinking about getting one is the pain that is involved with getting the actual tattoo. Let’s face it people, getting a tattoo does hurt and there really isn’t any getting around that. There are however some numbing creams out there that are available, but there have been a lot of mixed results with them. Some people report that that do work but the cream doesn’t last the entire time of getting the tattoo. While others say that the cream doesn’t work at all. If you ask a tattoo artist they will tell you they are not fans of the cream, they think they are pointless. After all the pain involved with getting a tattoo is just part of the process, if you can’t deal with it or are worried about it you shouldn’t be getting a tattoo.

With that being said it is just best to prepare yourself mentally that getting a tattoo is going to hurt but it’s nothing like giving birth to a child.  You will most certainly feel some sort discomfort and a little bit of pain. Some people describe getting a tattoo like getting stung by hundreds of bees at the same time. While others say it like broken glass being drug across your skin repeatedly. However, it is important to keep in mind that every person is different, everyone has a different pain tolerance and discomfort level. So the best piece of advise is to not psych yourself out too much about getting a tattoo, but your should mentally prepare yourself and truly try not to think too much about it. Just worry about it when you are actually getting the tattoo and to be quite honest you will discover that when you are actually getting the tattoo that it’s not as bad as you thought it would be.

Celebrity Tattoos: Katy Perry

June 17, 2009 at 6:41 am (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

KATY-PERRY5

When one thinks of the, I kissed a girl singer the last thing that comes to their mind is tattoos. This is the best thing about tattoos. People who you would never think to have one has one. This also just goes to show that the stereotype on tattoos couldn’t be more wrong. It is usually those shy, good girls from next door that have a secret love for tattoos. With that being said, Katy Perry does have a tattoo of her own and it just so happens to be in a rather visible place.

Katy has a tattoo on her left wrist. Her tattoo is a text tattoo, that simply says Jesus in black ink. No word on why Katy decided to get this tattoo. But there you have it she does have one. There have also been some rumors that she has a lip tattoo on her back somewhere. However, Katy does not rule out the possibility of getting another tattoo. It seems that the hot and cold singer, has been hot and cold about getting a tattoo of Freddie Mercury on her back. Katy has once stated that she looks up the former front-man of Queen and completely idolizes him. She shared that she once almost got a huge tattoo of Freddie’s face on her back, but says she decided against at the last minute. She says she is glad she didn’t do it but on the flip side she still has an urge to get this tattoo on her back. So it is pretty safe to say that this pin up style singer will more than likely add to her tattoo collection one day.

A Few Tips One Should Know Before Getting A Tattoo

June 16, 2009 at 4:52 pm (tattoo) (, , , , , , , , , )

tattoo04

Several people think that you can just waltz into a tattoo parlor or tattoo studio and just sit down in the chair and get some ink, well that is not the case. You most certainly can do that but you need to be prepared before you walk in there and get your body ink. First of all you should have your design picked out and should be certain on the location your want your new tattoo to be on. However, there are several things you need to do to prepare yourself as well as your body for your new tattoo. Since tattoos breach the skin and a foreign object, the tattoo ink is being injected into your skin you need to prepare your body for this disturbance.

* First and foremost you can not have any alcohol in your system. Some people say getting liquored up before you get some ink can help numb the pain. Well this is awful advise. Your body needs to be clear of all alcohol. Alcohol thins your blood, which means you will bleed more. More blood means the longer it will take for the tattoo to heal not to mention that your tattoo artist will have a difficult time doing a good quality job when you are bleeding more than you should be.

*This next tip maybe kind of silly but you need to make sure you are clean. Make sure you take shower, you are going to be in close proximity of your tattoo artist so your don’t want to stink.

*Another great way to help your body get ready for a new tattoo is increase your intake of vitamin C. Not only is it good for your body but it will also help with the healing process.

* Another silly tip is to make sure you have a good nights sleep before getting your new tattoo. If you body is tried and fatigued it could effect the way your immune system handles getting the new tattoo.

*On the day of your tattoo it is probably best not to wear white because you could get a little bit of blood on your clothing. All tattoos bleed this is normal. It’s also probably best to wear clothes that are not tight and won’t get in the way of getting your tattoo. For instance if you are a woman getting a tattoo on your shoulder where a tank top or be prepared to take your shirt off when getting it.

*One of the most important tips is to make sure your do not get a tattoo on an empty stomach. Many people can feel light headed and faint. You very well could pass out while getting a tattoo if they don’t have anything in your stomach.

*Another great tip for tattoo virgins is to bring some sort of distraction with you. If you have an ipod bring it to listen to. Or bring a friend to have a conversation with. But most of the time your tattoo artist will strike up a conversation with you to help keep your mind off of the tattoo.
